Pole Position
New season of thrills
The award-winning Castle Combe Racing School is preparing for another season of record bookings with driving enthusiasts already going online to check available dates on the website.
The renowned Racing School, which has been operating for more than 24 years, has five courses which give drivers the chance to get behind the wheel.
They have a choice of driving a Formula Ford racing car, a performance saloon or the sporty Lotus Elise around one of the most exciting racing circuits in the
UK.
During the last 24 years, the Racing School has welcomed thousands of motorists to the racetrack - from newly-qualified drivers who have been treated to a course by proud parents to celebrate passing their test, to more experienced enthusiasts who have realised a driving ambition of their own.
Last year saw record bookings as new Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton captured the imagination, and the Racing School expects bookings to step up a gear again this summer.
Drivers taking any of the courses have a full safety briefing and individual coaching from one of the Racing School's team of specialist instructors - many of whom are current or past race champions.
Their aim is to ensure that drivers not only enjoy the experience but also benefit from their knowledge and experience.
The courses start with the entry level Super Saloon experience at just £99 for two hours of fun with three instruction laps, five driving laps and two fast passenger laps in the supercharged 2008 Subaru Impreza STi.
One of the most popular is the Race Car Standard or Advanced courses, driving a Formula Ford similar to that which launched the careers of former stars like Ayrton Senna, Nigel Mansell, Graham Hill and Somerset's Jensen Button.
There is also the Sports Saloon course which combines the thrill of driving the Subaru Impreza STi and the remarkable Lotus Elise, described as the best-handling car ever made.
