NELL: Woolhouse axe was right

2:20pm Thursday 21st January 2010

WE made the decision to let netminder Geoff (Woolhouse) go after the loss to Slough on Sunday.

When you see an incident like that (headbutt on former Wildcat Ryan Watt) during the game, you don’t really get a full view of what happened but we reviewed it afterwards.

He’s a nice lad and it was out of character but what he did was out of order and over the top.

It made the game difficult and it affects our whole season.

I think that it’s the right decision for the club and we stick by it.

We now need to get another goalie on board but we’ve only got two weeks left to sign someone.

There are a few goalies about and we’ve had Chris Douglas training with us for most of the season.

We may look at getting him registered as a stand-in this weekend and see how he does from there.

We’re looking at other options and we could bring someone in who’s British or sign someone internationally.

During Saturday’s loss to Basingstoke we lost the first period 3-0.

We won the second period 3-1 and dominated the third but ended up losing by the odd goal.

On Sunday we were playing well and were right in the game, but the incident made it toughfrom then on.

We’ve given every team in the league a good game and we’re capabable of beating them all so we just need to prove it now.

There’s no reason why we can’t get a play off spot.
