NELL: Savouring that winning feeling again

IT WAS a great feeling to win on Saturday after seven straight defeats.

The difference was we played for the whole 60 minutes and that’s what you need when you’re playing against a very good team like Basingstoke.

Sometimes we have lacked concentration in 10 or 15- minute spells and you can’t afford to do that.

Overtime only lasted about 20 seconds when Aaron Nell got the goal for a 3-2 win and it was a great relief.

I thought Jan Krajicek played his best game of the season.

He’s our most influential player and that’s why we bought him in. He’s a defenceman but can also put points on the board which is vital.

We couldn’t follow the win up with a victory at Milton Keynes on Sunday but we were in the game the whole way through.

We gave too many penalties away and a couple of decisions didn’t go our way but we must remind ourselves we were playing one of the best teams in the league and to lose by three goals in hockey is nothing.

Our charity this year is the national anti-bullying charity, which we will be promoting at our home game against Sheffield on Saturday to coincide with anti-bullying week.

We have had special purple shirts made for the game which is the official colour of the charity.
