CHIPPENHAM Ladies remain top of the West Clubs League East Division table after winning their inter-club battle.

Driven forward by Sabina Falcone and Liz Copeland, the first team squandered several early chances with Non Roberts and Holly Honywill going close.

They then forced a penalty stroke, but were unable to convert and the second team fought back, with Jane Smedley and Clare Widger needing to be on form to keep it level at the break.

Julie Lodge’s attacking gave the first team a short corner in the second half and, when the initial shot from Tracy Davies was saved, Sue Doel followed up to open the scoring.

Sian Perham and Rebecca Roberts continued to pressurise the second team goa and Sharon Thomas slotted home their second with a well-timed strike.
