Kyle Edmund became the first British man apart from Andy Murray to reach the Australian Open quarter-finals in 33 years with a four-set victory over Andreas Seppi on Sunday.
In the last eight Edmund will face third seed Grigor Dimitrov, who ended Australia’s hopes of a home winner by beating Nick Kyrgios in a memorable clash. Rafael Nadal survived a four-hour encounter with Diego Schwartzman and will next face Marin Cilic.
Caroline Wozniacki and Elina Svitolina remained on course for a semi-final meeting in the women’s tournament after easy wins.

Tweener queen
Wozniacki is through to her first Australian Open quarter-final since 2012 but what gave the Dane the greatest pleasure was succeeding in playing the tweener, a rarity in the women’s game.
“I’m admiring myself right there,” she said as she watched it back during her on-court interview.
Caring Kyrgios
Kyrgios gets a lot of bad press – much of it totally justifiable – but the Australian has a big heart and showed that again on Sunday when he invited a young cancer patient to join in his practice ahead of one of the biggest matches of his career.
Monday highlights
Young South Korean Chung Hyeon will attempt to follow up his upset win over Alexander Zverev by pushing Novak Djokovic in the night session.
Roger Federer is the only man yet to drop a set and he faces surprise package Marton Fucsovics, while Angelique Kerber will hope to maintain her superb form against the tricky Hsieh Su-wei.
World number one Simona Halep was pushed to 15-13 in the deciding set by Lauren Davis in the last round and could be severely tested again by exciting young Japanese-American Naomi Osaka.
