Rossiter expects Ipswich double
Speedway: Alun Rossiter expects his Swindon Robins to triumph against Ipswich Witches tonight, despite claiming they are this year's underdogs.
The Robins host the Witches after Monday's epic comeback that saw Rossiter's men overhaul a ten point deficit to beat them 50-43.
But Rossiter still feels his new side are gelling and cannot be considered favourites just yet.
"We are still ranked as underdogs and still not expected to do anything," he said.
"We have opened a few eyes but there isn't any more pressure from the outside because people don't expect us to succeed."
James Wright and Troy Batchelor impressed in the first meet on Monday but Rossiter is playing down their form.
He said: "I have said all along it will not happen straight away with this team.
"We are not far off 100 per cent and when we get to our full potential we will be a force to be reckoned with."
Their undoubted potential was glimpsed on Monday when they completed a remarkable turnaround.
The Robins were trailing by ten points after just four races and looking dead and buried.
Skipper Leigh Adams' 17 points and Mads Korneliussen's haul of 11 helped the visitors snatch a superb comeback victory.
But it was the crucial points scores of six and eight respectively from Wright and Batchelor, which proved the difference.
Rossiter said: "We just didn't have the set-up right and had to get organised."
The meet will have added spark after Witches promoter John Louis accused the Robins of breaking the rules over the inclusion of guest rider Joel
Parsons.
Parsons replaced Cory Gathercole and, under new league rules, should have had a lesser average but his currently stands at 3.96 to Gathercole's 3.01.
Any guest should be less, which Parsons was before he completed six official meetings.
Parsons completed his sixth Sheffield meeting on April 5, and his new interim average came into effect seven days later, but was not confirmed by the BSPA until 1pm on Monday.
