TOMMY Bridewell is still waiting for his first top-10 finish of the 2017 British Superbike season after missing out again at round two at Brands Hatch over the Easter weekend.

After finishing 12th and 11th in the two races staged at round one at Donington Park a fortnight ago, Devizes racer Bridewell was only able to match those results at Brands and has now dropped out of the top 10 in the early championship standings, falling to 11th place on 18 points.

Bridewell, 28, had a tough time from the outset on board the Kawasaki of his Team WD-40 outfit and failed to reach the final round of qualifying for the fastest nine riders and would line up 15th on the grid.

He was able to progress up the field slightly in the first of the two races and eventually finished in 11th place in 23 minutes 10.669 seconds, missing out on the top 10 by more than three seconds as Luke Mossey claimed victory for the JG Speedfit Kawasaki team.

Bridewell slipped back a place in the second of the races at Brands, coming home 12th in a time 23:10.460 – although again his deficit to the top 10 was a fraction over three seconds.

Out in front, Mossey completed an unbeaten weekend with his second victory, although that was not enough to catapult him to the top of the standings as Leon Haslam, who won both races at round one, still leads the way after finishing second and third at Brands.

Haslam has already chalked up 86 points this season, while Bridewell’s 18 sees him three short of a place in the top 10.

Round three of the championship heads north to Cheshire and will take place at Oulton Park on the weekend of April 29 to May 1.
