CHIPPENHAM’S Danny Kent admits that his confidence has taken a knock after failing to finish in the points for a fourth consecutive race on Sunday.

Having crashed and retired in Jerez, Spain, in round four of the Moto2 season, Kent was disappointed when he only qualified on the seventh row of the grid at Bugatti Circuit in Le Mans.

The Moto3 champion was hit by heavy traffic early on but worked his way up inside the top 20 to finish the race in 19th, with his teammate Miguel Oliveira claiming his first top 10 finish of the season.

“It has been a very tough weekend for me and the team, we’ve lost a lot of confidence in the front end,” said Kent.

“This is not where we want to be finishing, we need to figure out where we’re going wrong and we’ll go to Mugello starting from zero.

“We’ll work in a different way to try and get closer to the front.

“Sorry to the team as this isn’t where we want to be, we want to be closer to the front.

“We’ve got some time and we need to check the data and see where to improve.”

Kent will next be in action in the Gran Premio d’Italia TIM on Sunday, May 22.
