DANNY Kent continues to struggle with life in Moto2 after he failed to finish in Texas.

Having won Moto3 last year, the step up in class has taken some getting used to for the Chippenham racer.

A 10th place in the opening race was followed up by Kent finishing a spot outside the points last weekend in Argentina and then gearbox problems put an end to any challenge at the Circuit of the Americas.

“It was a really disappointing weekend,” he said.

“We’ve struggled throughout and to make things worse, we went into the race and found we had a clutch problem so had to retire.

“It’s not what we want. Sometimes this is part of racing."

“We had a lot of bad luck this week and I’m sure we can go to Jerez and return to where we should be.

“I feel we should be inside the top 10.”

Kent found the going challenging in practice as he was unable to advance past 25th on Friday.

The 22-year-old made changes to his suspension to make up time and lifted himself to 16th on the grid in qualifying.

However, the race didn’t go to plan for Kent as he was forced to retire on the fifth lap, with him struggling at the back of the pack.

After an encouraging warm up, he was hopeful of salvaging something from the weekend.

But as the lights went out, Danny’s bike bucked off the line and suggested not all was well with his Kalex.

Kent heads to Jerez, Spain, in two weeks’ time.
