RALLY stars past and present attracted thousands of enthusiasts to the Wiltshire Racing Circuit which played host to Europe’s premier rally show for the 15th year in succession.

One of the most popular rally stars ever, 1981 World Rally Champion Ari Vatanen, was one of the attractions to the Castle Combe race track for the Rallyday.

Vatanen took to the interview stage, with commentator Tony Mason, relaying the highlights of his amazing rallying career, where he was dubbed the fastest Finn.

“It has been a fantastic day” said Vatanen, “here at Rallyday I have had many photographs to sign with rally enthusiasts asking me to autograph pictures that I have never ever seen before”.

“This event is unique it¹s a friendly nostalgic day where drivers can mingle and meet the rally fans”.

Vatanen was also reunited with the Allied Palmer Deckled Escort in which he won the British Championship in 1996.

ERC Ladies trophy winner, Russian female rally driver Inessa Tushkanova, was also in attendance.
