ETCHILHAMPTON’S Tommy Bridewell had a mixed weekend in round six of the British Superbike Championship on his Tyco Racing BMW at Brands Hatch.
Bridewell was third fastest in his third free practice session but he started his first race from 11th on the grid after qualifying.
In sixth place as championship leader Shane Byrne crashed out, Bridewell took advantage as the safety car brought the field back together. The Tyco rider made his move up to fourth place by lap 15 where he finished.
From fifth on the grid in his second race, Bridewell was in an exciting five machine dice for the lead by lap 10.
However disaster occurred on lap 12, as Bridewell slid off his machine at Surtess corner. He walked away unhurt and, despite this, is still in sixth place in the championship standings.
