TOMMY Bridewell has vowed that he won’t be taking his hand off the throttle as he looks to build on his classy race win at Oulton Park last weekend.

The 26-year-old Etchilhampton rider is celebrating after holding off the challenge of former Milwaukee Yamaha team-mate Josh Brookes to clinch victory in race one last Saturday – the second victory of his career in the British Superbikes Championship.

After setting off in second place, Bridewell worked his way past Brookes during the opening lap and led proceedings from there on out before crossing the line in 28:43.914.

The Wiltshire speedster, who joined the Tyco BMW team at the start of the season, was delighted with his Oulton success – his only other previous race win came when he triumphed at Cadwell Park last season – but insists that he won’t be resting on his laurels.

“Racing is my job. I was back at work on Tuesday morning and I started training again on Wednesday,” said Bridewell.

“I think we proved that we could win races from the start to the finish. But I need to make sure that I keep working hard because it’s still early days.

“I qualified second and even though I got a good start, I came out of the first turn fourth. But I got myself past a few people on turn two, including Shakey (Shane) Byrne, to get behind Brooksey.

“I managed passed him and then led from there. My team were great with my pit board and I could see that I was a second-and-a-half ahead of hi m. I could see it when I looked at his too.

“We started off slowly but I think that we’ve got the settings right for the bike now. We’ve got testing at Snetterton in a few weeks and then the next round is in about six weeks’ time.

“It’s a little bit of a summer break now and it gives us time to work on a few new parts for the bike and things like that.”

Round four of the BSB takes place as Snetterton on June 19, 20 and 21.

Marlborough's Roger Lovelock and Aki Alto finished fourth in the latest round of the 2015 Hyundai Heavy Industries British Sidecar Championship with Molson at Oulton Park.

The pair are now top of the championship standings on 67 points.
