Let's hope we are the surprise play-off package

THE play-offs are a completely different season to the league.

Whatever happens in the league does not carry into the play-offs.

There is always a surprise package - lets hope we are it.

It was great to finally clinch a play-off place at the weekend.

There wasn't a big sense of relief, it was more a case of we got what we deserved.

We did it by beating Bracknell in a shootout on Saturday before losing 7-2 at the Isle of Wight on Sunday.

It happens a lot in hockey.

You get yourself somewhere and then come back the next day and it doesn't go for you.

It wasn't a major problem though, Wightlink have been playing well lately.

We play the champions Guildford and the runners up Slough on Saturday and Sunday respectively in the final league games.

We are still missing John Wheaton, Matt Davies and Tomas Janak so will have to play well.

More often than not games at the end of the season turn into non-events but I am pleased we don't have to play them needing to get something out of the games to reach the play-offs.

We are aiming to go as far as we can in the play-offs, there is nothing we can do but try our hardest.

We have been in good form since Christmas and will be looking to keep it going.

But we have got to be on the top of our game, only the best teams will reach the final four.

If we keep doing what we are doing we will be OK.
