CHIPPENHAM’S hopes of survival in Conference North look to be over after their 3-2 defeat at local rivals Swindon.

The Hardenhuish Park side travelled to Isambard School in Swindon knowing that they required three wins from their final three matches to stand a chance of beating the drop, however, despite their best efforts Chippenham were unable to overcome their hosts.

Meanwhile, Chippenham A ran out 9-4 winners against Bristol and West A in Central Two.

Despite Bristol piling on the early pressure with a number of penalty corners, they were unable to break the deadlock.

After weathering the storm, Chippenham took the lead when Henry Price’s shot missed the far post by a fraction, however, Joel Howells was on hand to turn the ball home from close range.

Some poor defending allowed Bristol to level the scores before half-time.

After the break, the game went goal crazy with the two sides sharing 11.

Chippenham midfielder Charlie Bizley struck twice to put his team 3-1 up before the visitors responded from two penalty corners to make it 3-3.

The hosts then scored three more goals, with Bizley taking his tally for the match to four, while Henry Price added Chippenham’s sixth.

The home keeper, Howard Simons, earned his man of the match award through numerous saves in the Chippenham goal to repel Bristol, but he could do very little to prevent the visitors adding their fourth.

With 10 minutes on the clock, Andy Edwards rounded to the keeper to give Chippenham a 7-4 lead.

Archie Wright completed the scoring for the hosts with two carbon copy goals after being played in by Price.
