DEVIZES extended their unbeaten streak to seven matches and wrapped up a first GoCrea8 Conference North away win of the season as they beat Chippenham 5-3.

In a tempestuous match, featuring several cards and ill-discipline, Devizes were the more clinical side.

Chippenham battled back from 3-1 down to 3-3 in the second half but ultimately, two goals for both Ollie Smith and Roger Edwards and a solo effort from Jude Coates ensured the points went home with the visiting side.

Marlborough maintained top spot in Central One with a hard-fought 1-1 draw at second-placed Team Bath Buccs C.

The visitors arrived full of confidence and took the lead early on when they stole the ball high up the field and John Berry rode two tackles before slotting the ball home.

However, they subsequently lost Berry to injury and goalkeeper Brian Marnane was beaten for the equaliser in the second half.

In the same division Wootton Bassett were 3-1 winners over Bristol University B, David Siggins, Mark Turner and Jakeem Lee on target.

Chippenham A travelled to top of the table Somerset Gryphons in Central Two and suffered their first away loss and heaviest defeat of the season 5-1.

Gryphons were a well-drilled team and took the lead in the first minute going on to add three more goals before half-time.

Chippenham started the second half much brighter but conceded a fifth before they managed to pull a goal back with a close-range strike from midfielder Chris Brunger.

Chippenham B opened their away account in East Central One as they put Devizes A to the sword 3-1.

Goalkeeper Howard Simons kept it scoreless early on before Jonty Richards and Rich Borman combined for Josh Burrows to score under the keeper.

Borman was again on hand to supply the incisive pass for Burrows to once again before half-time and, after it, Simons was again called into action repel Devizes’ attacks.

The hosts did pull a goal back but Chippenham went back to the counter-attack style which had brought so much success and forced a penalty flick which was dispatched by Burrows to complete his hat-trick.

Marlborough A were 3-0 winners over Team Bath Buccs F, with goals from Justin Metcalfe, Ed Watson and Will Hodge, but the B team came unstuck against Swindon’s North Wilts, losing 8-1 despite David Patterson’s strike.

In East Central Two, Chippenham C could not overcome promotion-chasing Swindon B, going down 2-1.

Swindon got on the board first with a counter-attack strike, but a succession of slick passes saw Matt Baker win a short corner that Tim McKendrick converted for the leveller, before another defensive mistake allowed Swindon to net the winning goal before the interval.
