CHIPPENHAM maintained their 100 per cent start to the season as they edged out Marlborough in a seven-goal thriller in Central One.

The visitors stormed into a 4-0 lead, after Mark Wright hit a brace to add to strikes from Chris Instone and Luke Morris.

However, the hosts started to hit back with 20 minutes left on the clock.

Anil Sud grabbed their first goal when deflecting home Will Radnege’s through ball.

The deficit was cut further when debutant striker Isaac Hocking calmly flicked home past the onrushing keeper.

With the game now well and truly on Chippenham created chances of their own and were unlucky not to add further to their own tally, mainly down to the efforts of Marlborough goalkeeper and man-of-the-match Brian Marnane.

With five minutes remaining, Marlborough skipper Rich Holman scored from a short corner to settle a tense final few minutes.

Chippenham A moved to the top of East Central One with a hard fought 1-0 home win over Team Bath Buccaneers F thanks to Henry Price’s goal.

Chippenham B extended their unbeaten run to eight games as they shared the spoils in a six-goal thriller with Swindon A.

The lead changed hands several times, with Chippenham salvaging a point late on thanks to goals from Tim McKendrick and a James Grantham brace.

Steve Jackson marked his return to the Chippenham fourth team with a hat-trick in their 3-1 success over Swindon B.

Youngsters Harry Stanley, Owen Baldwin, Oli Jennings and Will Thomsett put in sterling displays for Chippenham fifths despite their 5-0 defeat at Shepton Mallett.

Mel Bessel hit a hat-trick for Corsham ladies firsts in their 6-2 success over City of Bath seconds.

Corsham, who have now scored 28 goals in their opening four matches, also had Lorraine Robinson, Laura Mizen and Vickie Hathway on target in the success.

Joan Carpenter led the way for Corsham seconds in their 5-0 success at Winscombe thirds with three goals, while Sarah Morgan and Morgan Golledge also found the net.

Molly Mainwaring was another Corsham player to hit a trio of goals, this time for the thirds in their 5-0 victory over their Keynsham counterparts. Hannah Laken added a brace to seal the win.

Corsham men’s first team were on the receiving end of a 13-0 thrashing against Team Bath Buccaneers.
