DEVIZES produced another fine display to see off Swansea City 6-0 and keep pace with Davis Wood League Conference North leaders Cardiff & Met B.

The home side dominated the first half but Swansea defended with strength and tenacity until the home side took the lead as a quick passing move saw Ollie Smith square the ball for Jack Gompels to tap home.

Devizes went into the break two up, courtesy of a Tom Alsop strike and, in the second half, Swansea tired.

Within the first 30 seconds, a reverse-stick strike from Paddy Gompels was deflected by Josh Bond to put the game beyond the visitors.

Fourth and fifth goals were added by Jack Gompels and Alsop and the scoring was completed by a Roger Edwards’ corner.

Marlborough suffered a setback in their Central One campaign as they were soundly beaten 4-0 by Yeovil & Sherborne.

Both sides had chances in the first half, Marlborough goalkeeper Brian Marnane holding firm, before Yeovil took the lead after a quick attack and scramble for the ball inside the D.

Marlborough started the second half in a more lively fashion until Yeovil broke free with an incisive move down the right-hand side which brought their second.

As Marlborough pushed forward looking to get back into the game, the home side ruthlessly exploited the space left in behind with two more goals.

Corsham remain top of East Central Two as they put county rivals North Wilts A to the sword 4-1.

Off the back of their first defeat to Devizes A the previous week, Corsham controlled matters, Tom Bowery again finding the net after a patient attack down the right.

The Swindon side levelled but Corsham’s second arrived from the left allowing Tom Stevenson to finish.

Controlled hockey from the new partnership of Bowery and Alex Montgomery opened up the defence and allowed Joe Hayes to tap in on the back post.

The final goal came as Bowery hurdled tackles on his way into the D.]
