DEVIZES made it two wins from two on the road in the Davis Wood League Conference North as they clinched a 4-1 victory at Lydney.

The visitors produced their best performance of the season to topple their Forest of Dean hosts.

Devizes started well, opening the scoring as Ollie Smith fired home from a penalty corner.

The away side kept up the pressure and Smith scored another with a reverse-stick shot after a mazy dribble into the circle.

Lydney countered, but Devizes held strong and grabbed a third on the break as a superb cross from Dan Smith was neatly tucked home by Andy Tookey.

Having produced such a strong first-half performance, Devizes absorbed any Lydney pressure and, despite a home goal, they wrapped up the victory by hitting Lydney on the break once again.

A fine move from Callum Lavens and Josh Bond was tapped home by the latter to top off a convincing performance.

Marlborough went top of Central One as they maintained their 100 per cent home record by thrashing Robinsons B 5-0.

The hosts’ positive start caused confusion in the Robinsons defence and the opening goal arrived when Marlborough converted a short corner, skipper Richard Holman sliding home.

With confidence high, the home side added a second when Holman smashed in a cross that Will Radnege pounced upon.

It was 3-0 before the interval as Radnege supplied a pinpoint pass which was deflected in by striker Steve Way.

Marlborough’s combination of resolute defence and swift breaks worked again after the break and they extended their advantage as Anil Sud tapped in from close range following some defensive confusion.

Sud added a second a couple of minutes from the end.

  • MARLBOROUGH Ladies found Newent too hot to handle in their West Clubs League Premier Division 2A as they slipped to a 6-0 defeat.

The home side were 2-0 up within the first ten minutes and, despite some fine saves from Vicky Moxham and defending from Rachel Cox and Penny Bowen, Marlborough trailed 4-0 at the break.

The second half was much improved from the visitors, with Catherine Manley and Alex Crosby-Jones prominent, although Newent scored twice more.
