A TWO-OVER par final round of 74 meant Jordan Smith finished outside the top 50 at the HSBC Abu Dhabi Championship today.
The Wiltshire star was five-under for the tournament heading into the final round at Abu Dhabi but a poor finishing day, which saw Smith record three bogeys as well as a double, dropped him to three-under overall at finish in a tie for 61st place.
Fellow Englishman Tommy Fleetwood claimed victory after a seven-under final round of 65 to reach 22-under, two clear of countryman Ross Fisher.
Smith enjoyed a strong start to the day with birdies at the first two holes but that was undone by back-to-back bogeys at four and five before a double bogey at the short seventh.
The Bowood player remained two-over at the turn and a run of eight straight pars was ended with another bogey at the 16th.
Although Smith was able to reclaim one shot with a third birdie of the day at the next hole, it could not prevent him carding his worst round of the week.
