JORDAN Smith shot the two-under par round he needed to make the cut at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship today.
After opening up the tournament with a level par round of 72 on Thursday, Wiltshire golfer Smith fared better in Friday’s second round to record a 70 and squeeze into the weekend’s final two rounds.
Derry Hill man Smith got off to a blistering stat after getting under way with back-to-back birdies this morning.
Smith dropped his first shot with a bogey on the fifth hole but two more birdies at holes eight and nine saw him reach the turn at three-under.
The Bowood player was unable to continue that momentum over the back nine, however, and a bogey on 15 went alongside eight further pars to see Smith finish with a two-under 70 and on two-under overall.
Smith is currently in a tie for 57th place, 10 shots adrift of Belgium’s Thomas Pieters at the top of the leaderboard.
