JORDAN Smith opened up his Turkish Airlines Open campaign with a two-under first round today.

The Derry Hill man is currently in action at the first of the European Tour’s Final Series for the top 78 players in this year’s Race to Dubai standings.

Smith got off to a dream start at Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort in Antalya with a birdie at the very first hole before following it up with another at the third.

That was as good as it got for the 24-year-old as a run of six straight pars saw him reach the turn at two-under.

After another par at hole 10, Smith dropped his only shot of the day at the 11th with a bogey.

It did not take him long to claim that back with another birdie on 15 to get back to two-under and that was how it stayed for the Bowood player until the finish.

Smith finished the day in a tie for 19th place, five shots off the lead at seven-under.
