KYLE Campbell from the Wrag Barn club near Highworth won the North Wilts Junior Open title with a gross score of 74.

For the second year in succession, thick fog delayed the start of the event, which had a capacity field of 72 juniors.

Twenty one juniors with handicaps up to 20, played a medal round and six returned scores below par nett, the best by home player Jordan Rawlings.

There were also 21 players in the stableford for handicaps 21 – 40, and five returned scores better than par.

A huge 49 points won the Tiny Spires Trophy for North Wilts’ Eleanor Harvey, with clubmate Ciaran Murphy the runner up on 43 and Marlborough’s Finley on 41 claiming the U13 prize.

Nathan Pike, of North Wilts, scored 41 for the U18 award, while the girls’ prize went to Abigail Parkinson, from High Post.

The 10-hole short course competition was played by 30 junior golfers aged 7-12, with eight-year-old Matthew Headford, from Broome Manor, the overall winner, on countback from clubmate Toby Spedding, also aged eight.
