JORDAN Smith added more useful points to his Race To Dubai and world ranking tallies as he finished the Dubai Desert Classic strongly today.

The 24 year old from Derry Hill shot a final-round of 70, two under par, to finish five under par in total and just outside the top 20 at the event.

Bowood's Smith, already with two top 10 finishes on the European Tour to his credit this season, dropped shots at the first and fourth holes but repaired the damage with birdies at the sixth and the ninth.

A birdie at the 10th was cancelled out by a dropped shot a hole later but the Wiltshire man finished his week with a flourish by making eagle at the long 13th and parring home.

Spain's Sergio Garcia moved back into the top 10 in the world after leading from start to finish to claim his 12th European Tour title - and first for three years.

Garcia carded a flawless closing 69 at Emirates Golf Club to finish 19 under par, three shots clear of Ryder Cup team-mate Henrik Stenson.

Stenson birdied the last to complete a 69 and finish 16 under par, two shots ahead of England's Tyrrell Hatton and Denmark's Lasse Jensen. Ian Poulter, who was in the final group alongside Stenson and Garcia, struggled to a closing 76 to finish tied 15th.
