WILTSHIRE’S Jordan Smith endured a mixed bag in his third round of the Dubai Desert Classic as he got himself back into the red.

Having got through the demands of a windy second day in the United Arab Emirates relatively unscathed, Smith was in the middle of the pack heading into the weekend.

The 24-year-old, from Derry Hill, got into his rhythm early on as he put the bogey on the final hole the day before behind him and picked up a shot on the par-five third.

However, Bowood’s Smith went out in level par as a birdie on the par-four eighth was sandwiched between bogeys on holes seven and nine.

The Challenge Tour champion moved back to one under for the round and three under for the tournament when he secured a birdie on the par-five 13th.

And that is where Smith remained come the end of the round as he responded immediately to a dropped shot on the 16th with a birdie on the penultimate hole.

His round of one under par left Smith in tied 36th as he headed for the clubhouse with many still out on the course.
