CUMBERWELL Park's Laurie Canter picked up his biggest European Tour cheque to date while fellow Wiltshire player Jordan Smith boosted his hopes of following him on to the main tour next season after another successful weekend for the pair.
Canter ended a consistent week by finishing tied 34th at the Made In Denmark event at Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort, winning nearly 13,000 Euros and equalling his best finish on the European Tour since earning his card for the first time late last year.
The 26 year old has won more than 40,000 Euros so far this season and is currently 187th on the Order of Merit. Canter will need to win a tournament or finish inside the top 110 on the Race to Dubai rankings at the end of the season to retain his status.
Bowood's Smith, who won a Tour event in Egypt earlier this season, finished tied sixth to continue his fine form this season.
The top 15 in the overall standings at the end of the season earn full European Tour playing rights next year.
