MALMESBURY mum Charlene Harvey has continued her meteoric rise in the world of bodybuilding after claiming a world title - little more than five months after entering her first competition.

The 35-year-old only entered her first competition in June but immediately caught the bodybuilding bug.

With the dedicated help of her training partner and husband Chris, as well as personal trainer Emma Brace, Harvey placed in the top three of three categories in that event and qualified for last weekend’s Pure Elite World Finals at Margate in the process.

The competition Kent brought together the top three contestants from around the globe who had placed in the qualifying rounds for a final showdown.

This included competitors from as far afield as Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Estonia, Malta, USA, Holland, Poland, Grease, Italy, Bulgaria, Nigeria, Hungary, Slovakia, Cape Verde, Lithuania and the UAE.

The competition was of an extremely high standard but Harvey’s hard work, dedication and commitment paid off as she finished top of the pile and was awarded the Muscle Model Open World Champion trophy.

She also finished second in the Muscle Model Over 35 category, both of which promoted her to Pure Elite Pro status.

Harvey now holds Pro Cards for both Pure Elite and Miami Pro and has been invited to be an ambassador for supplement company Muscle Excess.

She is now embarking on a tough ten-month training programme in order to step up to the next level and enter UKBFF physique competitions.
