JORDAN Smith carded a final-round of 68 to clinch a best-ever finish at a European Tour event in Moscow today.

The Derry Hill player, who clinched his maiden victory on Europe's third-tier EuroPro Tour earlier this summer, finished on five under par at the M2M Russian Open to finish tied for 28th place at Skolkovo Golf Club.

Former Walker Cup player Smith, who plays out of the Bowood club near Calne, continued his excellent season of making an impact on European golf, signing for rounds of 69, 68 and 74 in his first three rounds.

His previous best finish in a European Tour event was tied 32nd at the Lyoness Open in Austria last June, while he was also just inside the top 40 in the Russian event last year.

Fellow former Wiltshire county player Ben Stow, based out of the Rushmore club on the Wiltshire/Dorset border, also enjoyed a good week, making the cut and ending on level par for the tournament.

England's Lee Slattery claimed an emotional second European Tour title, holding his nerve with a crucial par putt at the final hole to emerge from an enthralling finale with a one-shot victory over Argentinian Estanislao Goya.
