BOWOOD golfer Sam Matton is through to local final qualifying for next month's Open Championship at Royal Liverpool after negotiating his way through the regional rounds today.

Matton, shot a level par 72 at Remedy Oak Golf Club in Dorset and was one of 12 to progress.

Wrag Barn amateur Matt Mumford is a reserve for local final qualiying after firing a one-over-par 73.

Wiltshire players Robbie Busher (Salisbury & South Wilts) and Corey Sheppard (High Post) both missed out with 74s, as did Ben Loughrey (Wrag Barn) and amateur Henry Pallas (Hamptworth), both with 76s.

There was also no joy for Upavon's Dan Carter and Wrag Barn's Josh Plaister (77), Cumberwell Park's Charlie Cossins ad Wrag Barn's Josh Loughrey (78), Rusmore's Danny Lee (79), Upavon amateur David Hopkins (82), Matthew Miles of Tidworth (85) and clubmate Connor McGowan (92).

Broome Manor amateur Yoshio Takeuchi shot 79 to miss out at The Buckinghamshire, while Cumberwell Park's Louis Boston (86) did likewise at Little Aston in Sutton Coldfield.
