SPEEDWAY: Bring back the Blunsdon roar

SWINDON Speedway bosses are hoping to hear the famous Blunsdon roar as racing resumes at the Abbey against Peterborough on Thursday (7.30).

It’s the first home meeting in over a month for Alun Rossiter’s side and with the scorching weather set to continue speedway-starved fans are set to turn out in force.

Robins are looking to hit back from two defeats on the road last weekend against a Panthers side who include former Swindon men Olly Allen, subject to a fitness test, Jesper B Monberg and manager Jan Staechmann.

Rossiter said: “This will be a tough one, and I’m sure the Peterborough management will have their riders up for it.

"Obviously Jan having been manager here before I came back will want to prove a point.

“And they know with Batch (Troy Batchelor) and Hans (Andersen) in our team their riders will want to prove us right for picking them when Peterborough left them out. Let’s hope for a good, safe night of enjoyable racing.”

Fans can pay tribute to former Swindon rider Lee Richardson after the Great Britain star was tragically killed in Poland last week.

The club will hold a minute’s silence followed by applause and there will also be an opportunity to donate to the fund set up in Lee’s memory to support his wife and three children in years to come.

The souvenir programme also includes tributes to ‘Rico’ along with club legend Malcolm Holloway with several colour pictures of both riders during their Swindon days.

SWINDON: Hans Andersen, Nick Morris, Troy Batchelor, Seb Alden R/R, Simon Stead, Robin Aspegren, Peter Kildemand.

PETERBOROUGH: Kenneth Bjerre, Rene Bach, Michael Jepsen Jensen, Linus Sundstrom, Olly Allen, Richard Lawson, Jesper B Monberg.
