HILPERTON rhythmic gymnast Francesca Fox was named Sports Personality of the Year at last night's Wiltshire & Swindon Sports Awards.

The 18-year-old, who helped England to team bronze in last year's Commonwealth Games and is a member of Great Britain's 2012 Pathway squad, picked up the accolade at a ceremony at Salisbury's City Hall.

The event was hosted by former England and Bath rugby captain Phil de Glanville, with Fox, and last year's Young Sports Personality of the Year award winner, Devizes judo player Jemima Duxberry, giving performances before the winners in 13 categories were announced.

This year's Young award also went to a rhythmic gymnast, Swindon's 15-year-old junior British champion Laura Halford.

Ten year old Lauren Booth, from Chippenham, clinched the award for an athlete with a disability.
