SWIMMING: Relay joy for Chippenham

CHIPPENHAM Swimming Club finished a fine second place at the Winter league relay races at St Mary’s, Calne, on Saturday night.

After achieving one of its best results in a Winter League when coming fourth of 24 teams in round one, Chippenham swimmers again recorded some superb times in finishing second of four clubs.

They won 11 races on the night, with wins for the boys in U15 medley, Squadron (one from each age group) butterfly, squadron backstroke and breaststroke, U15 backstroke, U13 freestyle and U15 breaststroke.

The girls won the U15 freestyle, U17 breaststroke and U13 freestyle.

Chippenham also won the cannon relay, where four girls and four boys from each club compete in a freestyle relay.

Overall result: Swindon Tigersharks 140 pts, Chippenham 113, Bradford On Avon 84, Wotton Basset 48.
