Chippenham Town boss Adie Mings has told his players they must hit the ground running to have any chance of success this season, following the release of the club’s 2009/10 fixtures.
The Bluebirds will begin their Southern League Premier campaign with a home game against newly-promoted Nuneaton and visit Didcot Town three days later.
“I’m pleased we’re at home,” said Mings. “But Nuneaton are one of four or five sides this year who will go very close to winning it.
“But last year we started with Cambridge City, who were favourites to go straight back up and we got a result, so we’ll try and do it again.”
Chippenham will host Swindon Supermarine on Saturday, October 3 and are at home to Oxford City in the first round of the Red Insure Cup.
“We need to learn lessons from last year where we started indifferently,” said Mings. “We have to hit the ground running and be a bit more experienced in what we do. It will come down to whoever is the most consistent.”
U16s will be granted free entry to three of Town’s pre-season friendlies, starting with Saturday’s visit of Salisbury City. Swindon Town on July 22 and Thatcham Town on August 1.
