EARLY on Town piled pressure on the Forest Green Rovers defence.

Five minutes in Matty Taylor struck a shot but it hit Keishi Anderson and Forest Green cleared their lines.

Twenty minutes went by with some dangerous attacks on both sides and Swindon edging possession.

Another chance came for the Robins through Anderson, who took a shot inside the box which was superbly saved by Forest Green goalkeeper Bradley Collins, on loan from Chelsea.

HALF-TIME: SWINDON TOWN 0 FOREST GREEN ROVERS 0

Ten minutes after half time, Forest Green player Reece Brown turned his man and released a dipping shot which was tipped over by the under pressure Lawrence Vigouroux.

Town substitute Kaiyne Woolery hit the ball far in to the Town End from close range and a minute later, managed to keep his shot down and drilled a low shot which was well saved.

Town took off Paul Mullin for Kellan Gordon to give some fresh legs but the move didn’t make an immediate impact as Forest Green's Christian Doidge scored after some lovely play from Forest Green.

Straight from the whistle Woolery ran down the left wing and crossed the ball to find Gordon inches away from it.

Town had numerous chances, putting Matt Preston up top but the night just seemed to get worse when Anderson was sent off for a second bookable offence when protesting for a free kick. The referee then showed a second red to Forest Green player Dale Bennett.

There wasn’t really a stand-out player for me this evening as no one went that extra mile.

There are positives and negatives from this game. No one likes getting knocked out of the cup however now we can focus on regaining a play-off spot in League Two.

We need to get back to winning ways.
