YEOVIL boss Darren Way rued the "lapses of concentration'' that saw his side turned over by Swindon Town but praised the Glovers' effort in the 2-1 defeat at Huish Park on Saturday.

Way's side, humbled 4-0 at Carlisle in their previous outing, were handed the perfect start just four minutes in as Rhys Browne's deflected shot gave them the lead.

Yet the home side spent much of the remaining 85+ minutes on the back foot as David Flitcroft's visitors dominated the contest, finally earning the rewards they merited as substitute Kellan Gordon equalised before Keshi Anderson struck a last-minute winner.

Way told Somerset Live: “I thought the players gave everything.

“Once or twice there were lapses of concentration and I think for some of the younger players, the experience that they would have gained from that today will be huge.

“It was the goals that we were disappointed with. You’ve got to make sure that you can stay with your runner and for someone like Sam Surridge, who would not have played in a game of that magnitude, I’ve got Worthy (Matt Worhtington) who probably hasn’t played a game of that magnitude, so it’s an experience for them.

“I’ve just got to make sure that we stick together, we stay strong.

"Swindon have got a good away record, they’ve got a strong team and I’ll make sure that I keep the players in good spirits.

“As much as I was disappointed with the goals, I still thought the effort and energy was there for the players.”

Way pointed to Swindon's introduction of Gordon and Kaiyne Woolery as a key factor in the turn around in scoreline, the former bagging the equaliser and the latter laying on the winner for Anderson.

“I thought that Browne and Otis (Khan) in the first five or 10 minutes caused Swindon all sorts of problems,'' added the Yeovil chief.

“Then they (Swindon) changed to the diamond, they brought one or two players on and that changed the game.”
