DEVIZES Ladies secured their second win of the South West One season as they downed Yeovil Ladies 17-10 at the Chivers Ground.

The Somerset side arrived a place above Devizes in the table but the home side made the better start as full-back Denise Warbutton booted them into an early lead with a penalty.

With the impetus, Devizes made further inroads into Yeovil territory leading to a spell of pressure from which Gemma Schader's initial drive allowed the ball to go out along the backs where centre Abi Dalton dived over, Warbutton adding the extras.

Chloe Wallington's storming break was halted by a last-ditch tackle before Sian Stevens was also stopped in full flight but good tackling by Jo Emslie forced a turnover and a series of rucks saw Kate Stradling go powerfully over the line, Warbutton landing the tricky conversion for a 17-0 half-time lead.

Yeovil re-emerged as a different team, taking advantage of poor home tackling to score their first try before crossing for a second score, but Devizes tightened up and held on for the win.
