SWINDON Robins duo Jason Doyle and Nick Morris both missed out on the semi-final in the SGB Premiership Riders’ Championship on Saturday night as Freddie Lindgren lifted the title for a second successive year.

Robins captain Doyle experienced a tricky start to his evening at Belle Vue Aces’ National Speedway Stadium and had just one point from his first three rides.

Although he recovered well to win his final two races, it was not enough to see him reach the semis.

Meanwhile, fellow Australian Morris pulled off a fantastic ride to hold off Jacob Thorssell and Scott Nicholls in a breathtaking heat 20 only to miss out on the latter stages on countback after five riders were tied on eight points.

It was a solid but frustrating night for the Robins riders, who will be back in action at the National Speedway Stadium for the second leg of Swindon’s Knockout Cup semi-final with the Aces on Friday.

They will then return to the Abbey Stadium for the Premiership play-off semi-final second leg with Poole a week on Monday.
