DION Conroy admits Swindon Town still need to iron out a few kinks in their game as they look to get back to winning ways this afternoon.

After picking up seven points from the opening three fixtures in League Two, David Flitcroft’s side have since been beaten three times in their last four games.

With so many new players having arrived over the summer, including four on transfer deadline day just a fortnight ago, it is understandable that there is still a bedding in process going on at the County Ground.

Only a penalty saw Town beaten at Notts County on Tuesday night, while costly errors at the back were the catalyst for defeats at home to Crawley Town and Barnett before that.

Defender Conroy is sure that once those problems have been eradicated from Swindon’s play, they will be back on top form.

“I think our form is good. I think everyone is starting to gel together more and it is a couple of mistakes here and there which have cost us,” said centre back Conroy.

“Once we stop giving away a penalty, or things start going our way, I think we should be able to put a run together of not losing.

“Hopefully that will all start working and we will get the points on the table.

“We had the Derby boys and Keshi Anderson come in, everyone is still getting used to how they play.

“They’re still getting used to how we play too, so it does take time but I think we are getting there, hopefully we can go out and put in a good performance on Saturday.

Town host Stevenage at the County Ground this afternoon as they go in search of an elusive first win on home soil in 2017-18.

Although their points return at SN1 has not been what they wanted, 21-year-old Conroy can see plenty of positives from the performances Swindon have produced in front of their own fans so far this term.

“We have started off every home game really well. We should have probably scored three goals in every game in the first 20 minutes,” said Conroy, who joined Swindon on a free transfer from Premier League champions Chelsea in January.

“Hopefully we can start putting them in the back of the net and then stay more focussed on the counter attack.

“When we play away from home, we are a very solid unit.

“We just need to organise people a bit better. The away form is perfect when we defend, we don’t give many chances away, so we just need to convert that into the home games.

“All we need to do is get the first goal. We start very quickly and then we just need to try and score a few more.”
