MALMESBURY Victoria claimed their first win of the season in emphatic fashion as they dispatched Chippenham Park 3-0 at home on Tuesday.

Kieran Jones grabbed two and Jamie Packer the third, much to the delight of manager Kevin Bridgeman, who had seen his troops slip to a 4-0 defeat away to Warminster Town on Saturday.

“It was great to get our first win on the board because we were a little bit disapointed after Saturday,” he said.

“It was one of the worst performances I have seen in my last two and a half years in charge, so we were keen to get a reaction out of the boys.

“To be fair the players were on the same page, plus it was a local derby, so we were fired up from the start and it was a thoroughly deserved the victory.”

Chippenham Park had continued their unbeaten start to the season on Saturday when Garry Lock’s goal got them a 1-0 win over Ashton & Blackwell United.

Corsham Town were also in action in midweek, picking up their first points of the season after a 0-0 draw with Westbury United on Tuesday.

Jamie Harrison has endured a difficult start to life at the club with defeats in all four of their opening fixtures, including a 3-1 loss at the hands of Roman Glass St George at the weekend.

Devizes Town boss Darran Walters admitted his side’s first win of the season had come despite their poorest performance as they dismissed Warminster Town 2-0 on Tuesday.

Robbie Mitchell netted the opener at Nursteed Road in the first half and Tom Slater’s second-half penalty wrapped up the points.

Slater also scored in the 1-1 home draw with Sherborne Town on Saturday and Walters said: “We struggled a bit in the first half and went in at half-time ahead against the run of play. We wanted to win our first two games (of the season) so it was nice to get one on the board.”

Goals from Billy Gleed and Mark Dolman earned Calne Town a 2-2 draw at home on Tuesday. Gleed and Stu Windsor had scored in the 3-2 defeat to Bristol Telephones at the weekend.
