SWINDON Town manager David Flitcroft is not fazed whether or not his side have a target on their backs following the continuation of their good start to the season.

Town spent £350,000 to bring in striker Kaiyne Woolery from Wigan Athletic a week ago, with the striker marking his debut with a goal to earn a 1-1 draw at home to Exeter City on Saturday, making it four points from their first two League Two fixtures.

Woolery is the 11th signing made by Flitcroft since his arrival as Town boss this summer and in the wake of the completion of that deal, chairman Lee Power revealed the club’s budget had passed the £2million mark.

Promotion back to the third tier was the remit given to Flitcroft upon his appointment and the Town chief is not concerned if the rest of division views them as there to be shot at.

“I am not bothered about what other teams think or do, it’s about us and concentrating on us,” said Flitcroft, whose side have also suffered a narrow defeat to Championship side Norwich City this term.

“I am not bothered in the slightest what other teams think about us, I will only bother about what my team thinks about the fans and what the fans think about them.

“I want everything in Swindon to be about what we do and how we approach the game and just concentrate on us.”

Saturday’s draw with the Grecians marked Flitcroft’s first home game in charge following trips to Carlisle United and Norwich.

A bumper crowd of close to 8,000 were in full voice at the County Ground and Flitcroft wants to see his players thrive under the buoyant expectation of the Town supporters.

“The fans did connect and they were absolutely brilliant on the first home game,” said Flitcroft.

“I said to the lads: ‘This is a big club, you’ve come to a big club so enjoy that experience. Be out on that pitch and enjoy that experience but make sure you turn up and give the fans something to shout about’.

“In the first half we certainly didn’t, but the second half represented what we do and the last six weeks of work we have put in, so that was pleasing.”
