SWINDON Wildcats have completed their roster with return of Chris Jones from Cardiff Devils.

The forward is no stranger to the Link Centre faithful having made 32 appearances for the Cats during the 2012-13 season.

Since then, the 26-year-old spent four years in the Welsh capital and claimed the treble last term as the Devils were Elite League champions, as well as picking up the Conference and Challenge Cup.

Player-coach Aaron Nell says he is glad to get the deal over the line and believes the Cats can only benefit from his latest recruit.

“I’ve talked to Chris a lot this summer and we have finally got the deal done,” he said.

“We were looking to sign one more forward, we just didn’t know when that would be. It’s come around very quick and we are delighted he’s here.

"He plays with a lot of speed and in a perfect world I was looking for a right-handed shot, Chris fits that. He’s going to add an awful lot to the Wildcats, his team had a good season last year in Cardiff winning the league, Conference and Challenge Cup.

“He’s hungry to be successful again and he’s going to be a perfect fit for our line-up.”

Nell also says Jones will join the likes of Sam Zajac and imports Max Birbraer and Jan Kostal as a player who are expected to have a big role next term.

“Chris is going to be relied upon a lot to be one of our top players,” added the Cats chief.

“He’s been in Cardiff for three or four years and he’s improved a lot and he’s hungry to have a big year and improve again. I think having that right-handed player will be important to us and he gives me the flexibility to play him in the middle or on the wing, I think he rounds off the roster well.

“He knows what we’re about, but things have changed since he was last here, I think Chris will be a big part of our team.”
