SWINDON Town have signed striker Paul Mullin for an undisclosed fee from Morecombe to become new manager David Flitcroft’s third recruit of the summer.

The 22-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year deal at The County Ground and will link-up with his new teammates when they begin pre-season training today.

Mullin has spent the last three seasons at the Shrimps, making 140 appearances and scoring 28 goals for Town’s League Two rivals.

His arrival follows the previous acquisitions of defender Chris Robertson and midfielder James Dunne, who both signed on a free transfer.

Speaking to Town’s official website, Mullin said: “I’m made up to be here. It is a massive club.

“I’m just made up to have got it all done so that I can get ready for pre-season and the new campaign.

“The move came about very fast to be fair. I spoke to the gaffer a couple of days ago and we got it over the line very quickly thankfully.

“From the first moment I spoke to the gaffer and he outlined what he wants from the club and what direction he wants to take us in, which is to get promotion.

“He’s going to base all of that on hard work and everyone coming together, including the fans which will help us.

“The new gaffer has given everyone a lift, the club seems to be on the up again and promotion is obviously the aim.”

Liverpudlian Mullin began his career in the youth teams at Premier League sides Everton and Liverpool before signing for Huddersfield Town in 2012.

Despite impressing for the Terriers’ U18 and U21 sides, Mullin was released by the club at the end of the 2013-14 season without a first-team appearance to his name.

He was swiftly snapped up my Morecambe and did not take long to establish himself in the first-team set-up.

Mullin is set to a quick return to his old club, with Town due to travel to the Shrimps in their third League Two game of the new season on August 19.
