DERRY Hill U14 Phoenix Girls are on their way to the national finals after winning both county and South West regional tournaments.

The Phoenix will contest the national event on Saturday in Birmingham, capping a fine season for the team, who were also winners of the Chippenham FC tournament at Stanley Park in May, as well as the U14 county league runners-up for the 2016-17 season.

The girls lifted the county title in April and added regional success on May 28.

It continues a series of successes for Hill’s girls’ section, with the U12 and U13s winning their categories at the recent AFC Corsham tournament, while the U11s also lifted the title at the Melksham event.

Derry Hill’s youth section has also grown immensely in the past 12 months, with more than 230 children playing aged 5-18 and 70 girls representing the club from ages 10-16.

The club also hope to set up a new U9 girls side under the #wecanplay banner, as well as encouraging more teenage girls to get involved in association with the UEFA #weplaystrong campaign.
