JASON Doyle finished fourth at the first Speedway Grand Prix of the season in Slovenia tonight.

Swindon Robins' skipper Doyle accumulated three race wins from his five programmed rides to reach the semi finals, where he followed home Polish rider Patryk Dudek to reach the final race.

There, Doyle came home fourth behind winner Martin Vaculik, of Slovakia, with Fredrik Lindgren, of Sweden, second and Dudek third.

Doyle, who won four Grands Prix last season but saw injury rob him of a chance of a first world title, opened his evening by finishing third behind Dudek and Lindgren but then reeled off three heat victories to lead the points standings on 10 after 16 heats.

Despite being unable to score in his fifth ride, he went through to the semi finals and ended the evening with 12 points.
