THE CHALKBOARD

KARL Robinson has not exactly set the world alight since taking over as Charlton Athletic boss back in November.

He has won just seven of the 28 games he has been in charge of, with that 25 per cent win ratio only slightly better than the record of the man he replaced, with Russell Slade dismissed after claiming just five victories in his first 21 fixtures.

After hovering just above the relegation zone for much of the campaign, the Addicks have put any fears of the drop to bed with a strong run in recent weeks, picking up 10 points of the last 12 available.

Another victory over Swindon Town this weekend could still see them finish in the top half of the table.

There is a familiar name in the Charlton squad in the shape of Nathan Byrne, who left Town in the summer of 2015 a matter of months after helping them to the League One play-off final.

A MAN IN FORM: Ricky Holmes

AT the start of the month, Nicky Ajose was able to boast that Charlton Athletic’s top scorer this season was currently on loan at Swindon Town.

However, Ajose’s haul of 12 goals has since been matched by Ricky Holmes following a strong end to the campaign from the Addicks winger.

Holmes has scored three times in his last four games, including finding the net in each of Chartlon’s last two fixtures against Chesterfield and Gillingham.

Although a dozen goals is far from a breathtaking figure, Holmes’ tally comes from 37 appearances in all competitions this season and he can be pleased with a return of one goal every three games in his debut campaign at the Valley.

The 29-year-old was signed for an undisclosed fee from Northampton Town last summer.

TREATMENT ROOM

FULL-BACK Chris Solly is in contention to return for Charlton Athletic’s final game of the season when they host Swindon Town tomorrow afternoon.

The 26-year-old has not played since Good Friday because of a knee injury, missing the Addicks’ last two fixtures, but the Town game is the one that boss Karl Robinson has previously earmarked for Solly to make his comeback.

Another Charlton full-back, Lewis Page, is definitely out, with the 20-year-old having undergone hamstring surgery back in March, an operation that brought his season to an end.

Defenders Roger Johnson and Harry Lennon have also had lengthy spells on the sidelines, with the duo not playing since December and January respectively.

Midfielder Joe Aribo made his first start for six weeks against Chesterfield last time out after missing almost a month due to a groin injury.
