THE CHALKBOARD

NEIL Harris is unlikely to alter his tried and tested 4-4-2 formation when he brings his Millwall side to Swindon Town on Saturday.

It is a system that has carried them to the brink of the promotion places and has managed to resist against defeat for 16 League One matches in a row - that run dating back to before Christmas.

In fact, the Lions have only lost once at all in 2017 and even that was away at Premier League high-flyers Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup earlier this month.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald:

Millwall skipper Tony Craig

Club stalwart Tony Craig, in his fourth spell at the club, will skipper a rigid flat-back four from left-back, while Jed Wallace and Aiden O’Brien provide danger out wide.

However, Millwall’s biggest threat is up top and there are few better strike partnerships in the division than Lee Gregory and Steve Morison.

A MAN IN FORM: Lee Gregory

LEE Gregory’s early penalty against Rochdale on Tuesday night brought him level on 15 goals with Steve Morison at the top of Millwall’s scoring charts this season – although it is the former who is in the richer vein of form at present.

While 33-year-old Morison has drawn a blank in his last seven appearances, younger man Gregory has four goals in his last five games.

The 28-year-old was the difference in each of the Lions’ last two victories, getting both goals in a 2-1 success at home to MK Dons on March 4, having also got the only goal of the game in the 1-0 defeat of Peterborough United at the Den five days earlier.

Gregory is in his third season with Millwall, having first signed on a free transfer from non-league side Halifax Town in the summer of 2014 – although he needs to go some between now and the end of the campaign if he is to match his scoring exploits of last term, when he finished with 27 in all competitions.

TREATMENT ROOM

MILLWALL have the luxury of travelling to Swindon Town on Saturday with a clean bill of health following the recent return to full fitness of goalkeeper Jordan Archer.

Archer was the only injury concern for the Lions ahead of Tuesday night’s game away at Rochdale having missed the previous six games with a thigh problem, although he was able to return for the 3-3 draw.

The 23-year-old suffered the injury in Millwall’s FA Cup win over Premier League champions Leicester City last month.

Archer tore his quad in just the second minute of the match but battled on gamely as Neil Harris’ side recorded a famous victory.
