SWINDON Town striker Jermaine Hylton looks unlikely to feature again this weekend against Coventry City, having not trained with the side since leaving early ahead of last week’s game at Northampton Town.

The 23-year-old was seen heading out of Sixfields Stadium prior to kick-off on Valentine’s Day, having been omitted from the matchday 18 despite travelling with the Town squad.

With Luke Norris deemed fit to make the bench, from which he scored, Hylton did not stick around and while internal disciplinary proceedings are ongoing, he remains ostracised from the group.

Town head coach Luke Williams said: “It is unlikely, because he didn’t train again today, but many things are possible in football.

“There is an ongoing enquiry into exactly what happened and what the best course of action is.

“I am kind of leaving the football club to deal with the situation and I will support any decision.

“It’s just about making sure that it is done correctly rather than it being rushed and nobody makes the wrong decision, which could be costly.”

On the injury front, Jamie Sendles-White remains the only absentee, with Ellis Iandolo back in full training.

While that creates its own selection challenges for Williams, it is a situation he is more than happy to be in, having been fighting an extensive injury list for most of the campaign.

“Everybody is up to date with the injury situation, I don’t think there is anything new,” he added, with Raphael Branco set to serve the second of his two-game ban on Saturday.

“Ellis has been on the pitch training in full so we feel like we are on the home straight with Ellis.

“We’ve almost gone from one extreme to the other.

“The last week before the league campaign started, we had 14 players on the training pitch and in the Swansea game, we lost Raphael (Branco) and in the Coventry game, on the opening day, we lost Jon (Obika), and suddenly we looked quite bare.

“Now we’re with players on the side of the pitch waiting to come on.

“We try to make sure that everybody is ready and prepared because we know all too well that something can happen.

“There’s such a balancing act to be done.

“Having more options than less is a better situation to be in.”

Town saw two youth products in the form of Tom Smith and Jake Evans join chairman Lee Power’s Irish side Waterford yesterday on loan until June, a move that Williams is more than happy with.

“It’s a great experience for them to play,” he said.

“I think the league campaign starts tomorrow (Friday), so there is competition there and it is a good environment for young players to go and learn what it is like being on the pitch week in, week out, and playing for points.”
