TOP international crickets will play in Potterne, near Devizes this summer as the club hosts the famous Lashings team.

Chairman Fred Kerley is delighted that the club has secured the the Lashings team to play in the village on August 20 and is now looking for firms to donate prizes to help with a fundraising raffle with money being split between Julia's House and club funds.

Among the current and ex-international players expected to take to the field are Monty Panesar, Tino Best and Gordon Greenidge and the club is expecting a big turn out.

Mr Kerley said: "We have a very limited number of corporate tickets left to sell. If you are interested and want to know more, message me here or call 07970 974141. There are ideal corporate opportunities for smaller companies."

Lashings were formed in 1984 when businessman David Folb put a team together to help out a Kent side that had lost its opposition. From there things grew and grew after West Indian legend Richie Richardson got involved.

The team now travels the country helping sides hold fundraising events.

Potterne Cricket Club is also to hold a quiz night on March 17 to raise funds for Julias's House.

Mr Kerley can be contacted on 07970 974141 to donate raffle prizes or to find out more about both the cricket and the quiz.
