Ben Gladwin wants to be Swindon Town’s creative spark during his loan spell at the County Ground.

Many see the former Marlow man as a direct replacement for his Queens Park Rangers teammate Michael Doughty, who was recalled by the Loftus Road outfit with fellow loanee Darnell Furlong at the beginning of the month.

Since Doughty’s departure, John Goddard had deputised in the offensive position during Town’s 1-1 draw with Shrewsbury last weekend.

However, during his previous spells at the County Ground, Gladwin demonstrated his ability to play in numerous positions, but believes he’s best deployed behind the striker.

The QPR man has struggled to find his feet at the Championship side since signing for them in May 2015 along with Massimo Luongo.

Now back for his third stint the 24-year-old doesn’t think too much has changed at the club.

“I think that is where (playing in the number 10 role) I (feel I) am most effective,” Gladwin said.

“We’ve got great midfielders here so maybe we will play with a few bodies in there, I’m not sure where I will fit in at the moment.

“Tim (Sherwood) has great experience and steps in when he feels like he needs to. Luke has great knowledge and the boys respect him a lot.

“It’s not too different (from when I was here before) but with that added bit with Tim, it’s good.”

Looking ahead to Town’s long trip to third placed Bolton Wanderers this afternoon, Gladwin is well aware of the threat posed by Phil Parkinson’s side.

But the midfielder remains adamant Swindon have more than enough to come away with a result if they show faith in their abilities.

“I’ve only seen the Charlton game on TV and they played really well. I’ve not seen the other games,” he added.

“It’s just belief more than anything, there is so much ability in the changing room.

“It’s a big game but we shouldn’t be worried about that I think we need to just go there, concentrate on what we need to do and hopefully take some points away.

“The way we play football we need to try and not worry about the other team, we would like to control the game and the ball, that might silence the fans."

In addition to Gladwin, Chelsea trio Charlie Colkett, Fankaty Dabo and Islam Feruz are also expected to be involved at Bolton.
