NORTHAMPTON Town have snapped up former Wales international Neal Eardley on a free transfer from Scottish Championship side Hibernian.

The 28-year-old defender was on a short-term deal at the Edinburgh side however that was not extended allowing the Cobblers to bring in the former Birmingham City man.

Millwall may have a battle on their hands if they want to keep hold of experienced defender Byron Webster.

According to the Rotherham Advertiser, the Championship side have submitted a bid of around £350,000 for the 29-year-old.

Millwall are said to be considering the offer as the former Doncaster Rovers and Northampton Town man would be keen on a move further north.

Peterborough United have claimed former Port Vale manager Bruno Ribeiro had everything in place to bring forward Adil Nabi to Vale Park.

The 22-year-old started his career with Premier League side West Bromwich Albion before making the switch to Posh in 2016.

Following the 1-0 defeat to Walsall, Ribiero resigned as manager, leaving Michael Brown in charge on a temporary basis.

Meanwhile, Posh have also accepted an offer for unwanted striker Shaq Coulthirst from League Two side Mansfield Town.

However the 22-year-old will not be on the move as he has rejected the chance to sign for Steve Evan’s side.

Coulthirst had started his career at Tottenham Hotspur but was shipped out on loan to a whole host of clubs, including Leyton Orient, and York City before signing for Peterborough in January last year.

Carlisle United have completed the signing of 30-year-old defender Gary Liddle from Chesterfield in a bid to strengthen their promotion credentials.

Liddle has signed an 18 month deal which will keep him at Brunton Park until summer of 2018.

The versatile defender played under manager Keith Curle at Notts County and the Carlisle boss is delighted to have finally got his man.

“He’s a player I tried to bring to the football club last season. Unfortunately we missed out to a team at a higher level who also had a manager Gary had worked with before,” Curle told the club’s official website.

AFC Wimbledon have allowed David Fitzpatrick to extend his loan spell with National League side Torquay United.

High-flying Scunthorpe United have strengthened their side by bringing in striker Ivan Toney on loan from Newcastle United, while the Iron have also signed Matt Crooks from Rangers on a temporary basis.

Toney is no stranger to League One having spent the first half of the season with struggling Shrewsbury Town where he scored six goals in 18 appearances.
