BRADLEY Barry has no doubt that this Swindon Town team should not be scrapping it out towards the bottom of the table but knows that only a run of positive results can prove that.

Town have won just six of 26 fixtures in League One this term and are only four points above the relegation zone at present.

Swindon were unable to see out a winning position in their last outing as they had to settle for a 1-1 draw against fellow strugglers Shrewsbury Town at the weekend.

Barry admits it is vital that Town now start to show more resolve to turn close contests into hard-fought victories and says that will only happen if everyone is pulling together in the same boat.

“We know in ourselves we are too good to be down the bottom of the table. We have just got to find those results,” said Barry, who will hope to start when Town travel to Bolton Wanderers tomorrow.

“We have got to play as team, not just individuals, because that’s the worst. If you are an individual you won’t see out results.

“As a team, we need to see out a 1-0 and we will climb up the table as it’s so close.

“Bolton will be a good experience for all of us. It’s a big ground and I have been watching Bolton since I was little, so it will be a great experience and a big test for us.”

Town’s draw against the Shrews last weekend marked Barry’s first appearance since November 19.

The 21-year-old had to endure a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury and was unable to oust Darnell Furlong from the right-hand side of Swindon’s defence upon his return to fitness.

Furlong has since been recalled from his loan at the County Ground by parent club Queens Park Rangers, handing Barry his chance again.

It is the first real time that Barry has faced a selection battle in his Swindon career as he made 38 appearances for the club in his debut season last term but believes a run of games out of the team can be just as beneficial as one in it.

“Darnell is a talented player and sometimes, it’s good for players to come out and watch other players as you can learn off them,” said Barry.

“Me and Darnell are good friends as well and you learn off each other. It’s competition and it’s nice to know there’s a battle there.

“On Saturday, I thought I did okay, I was solid. I just need to work on my fitness as I have been out for a month-and-a-half but it will come. You can’t get match fitness without playing matches.”
